Anymore for anymore?
Any news of further incomings appears to have slowed, although the ‘we are working hard behind the scenes’ mantra was rolled out again this week by Karl Robinson, who also stated that he expected no one else to leave. This alone may stifle any additions to the squad as no one really expected the likes of Naby Sarr, Tony Watt or perhaps even Karlan Ahearne-Grant to still be here, although it is best to remember that the transfer window has another 5 weeks, so still plenty of time for movement both ways.
As of today Dillon Phillips remains the only senior goalkeeper on the books, and we still lack in many other areas, and this is not helped by the fact that we are now to be without new signing Mark Marshall for up to 3 months. Marshall was injured on Saturday at Stevenage and will miss the start of the season with a knee injury. I wonder if Cameron Stewart will be offered a short term contract.
Robinson talked enthusiastically on Talksport yesterday and he deserves the chance to build his own team and system and with Lee Bowyer and Johnnie Jackson at his side let us hope that we all have something to cheer about when the season kicks off on Saturday week.
First though we have two home friendlies, starting tonight against Norwich and then their rivals Ipswich follow on Saturday. I wonder how often we have worn our away kit at The Valley?
