Welcome Mark Marshall

The apparently much sought after Mark Marshall became our second signing, and the second one from Bradford, today.

The 30-year old has had a journeyman career in the lower leagues but really came to age at Bradford and on paper at least is a very decent signing. According to Karl Robinson “he can play off both feet, he’s quick, he’s a winger and he’s aggressive in everything he does. He’s from London and he wants to play for Charlton.”

All good. If only we can keep Ricky Holmes as well….

Also the EFL’s newly sponsored League Cup fell into farce today when the draw was made in Bangkok, which is home to Carabao, the energy drink company and new League Cup sponsors.

The broadcast from Bangkok was via a live stream on Facebook amid sound issues and a buffering feed those that watched, became very confused. The sound disappeared so those interested, not me, were left to watch a graphics page which slowly populated the fixtures for the regional first round draws. Charlton were drawn away at Exeter in the second game, but then were drawn again at home to play Cheltenham, which apparently should have been Oxford United. This was just one of many cock ups, which if nothing at least gave us a little publicity before we exit the competition before the kids go back to school.

Whatever happened to past it footballers pulling balls out of a bag?

Here we are in mid-June and I’m surely not alone in feeling totally under-whelmed by news from SE7. Two signings from the might of Bradford City, no ink on the contract as yet of our best player, and two games in the first round of the Carabao Cup, one at home and one away – presumably on the same day…!
Even a2c couldn’t have made a bigger cock-up of the Carabao cup draw….well, there again….

Time to return to summer hibernation to await some exciting news from SE7 ZZZZzzzzzzzzzz
