Chris O’Loughlin became the 13th coach to leave the club today in less than 3 years. The continual turnover of staff at The Valley is quite incredulous.
Nothing on the OS but according to the News Shopper O’Loughlin, who previously put the cones out for Orlando Pirates, Supersport United, Melbourne Victory, AS Vita and Sint-Truiden, was surprised that he wasn’t kept on under Karl Robinson.
Maybe now the club will be in a position to announce Lee Bowyer’s move to assistant manager and Johnnie Jackson’s role as player-first team coach.
O’Loughlin meanwhile will be updating is CV, or waiting on a phone call from Roly asking him to offer all of his knowledge to Carl Zeiss Jena, who incidentally have won promotion to the 3rd Bundesliga via the play-off’s. They won the geographically split 4th tier Regionalliga.
Still only 38, O’Loughlin has only once had a coaching job where he has stayed for longer than a season.
Also Rick Everitt has revealed that the club has sold to date 4,500 season tickets, down on what the club told us this time last summer of 6,500.
