Charlton Athletic 3 Gillingham 0

At last an attacking Charlton performance that if never threatened has been often promised by Karl Robinson. We sounded very good going forward and there were some good individual performances with Forster-Caskey, Dasilva and others coming out of the game with plenty of credit. The Chelsea lad, if not retained by Chelsea, could well be worth a punt next season as he has got better and better with games.

The club have saved themselves a dinner and they may as well save themselves a POTY vote and just hand the trophy to Ricky Holmes, who had another stormer and scored another cracking free-kick. There ever reliable Jason Pearce got the opener and his first for the club and I look forward also to seeing our third, which sounded a very well worked goal which ended with Magennis back on the score sheet.

It was our first clean sheet since the middle of January, although Gillingham appeared to fluff their lines on numerous occasions. The Gills, backed by 2,500 fans and as many caravans, are fortunate (as have we been) that those sides below them are simply unable to put some results together.

Chesterfield were relegated today but Swindon and Port Vale lost and Shrewsbury drew. Oldham lost as well and with two games left we are all but mathematically safe. Yippee. Hang out the bunting!

Today sounded much better though and with 7 points added in 3 games Robinson has given himself a great opportunity to lift silverware as winners of the ‘bottom 10 table.’ Hopefully he will also avoid being saddled with the lowest finish in 91 years.

  1. No, he might win another trophy. The Draw Specialist and at moment we drawing lol pun intended with Bradford City with 18 draws. the only difference is that they have won more games and lost fewer and will be in the playoffs.
