Bolton Wanderers 1 Charlton Athletic 2
Well, well. The best result so far under Karl Robinson’s leadership, in fact probably the best of the season, but one that after 12 minutes looked highly unlikely. Lewis Page has had a bit of an inglorious start to his Addick’s career and after he was giving his marching orders and Bolton scored from the resulting free kick, I guess most of us not there switched off.
However what followed was a battling performance with quick counter attacking and solid defending in equal measure. Patrick Bauer headed in an equalizer and then Nathan Byrne finished off a great run from debutant Forster Caskey to put us ahead at the break.
Many players came out with credit from those there including Rudd, Konsa and Watt, whose tireless running bought time and composure to the 10 men. Robinson also added the sought after young Dutchman Anfernee Dijksteel to the bench.
We’ve performed well against the top sides this season, and 4th placed Fleetwood are next. Robinson looks to have found some consistency after the dreadful Millwall defeat before Christmas. There’s a lot of games in February, a month that will define our season.
A great result to put an all too rare smile on our faces.
