Charlton Athletic 0 Derby County 1
The life support machine will finally be switched off in Bolton on Tuesday night unless we win and other results go our way.
Our 22nd defeat of the season and Derby’s goal coming from a corner (what else?) just after we had a goal disallowed, which was dubious.
Ms Meire was back rested from her holiday and was greeted by camels in Harvey Gardens. The attendance was given as almost 16,000 but the club would have made little from concessions as they appeared to be boycotted successfully. That and the crowd was more like 10,000.
The players by all accounts did their best but it was not good enough, just like last week. Igor hit a post, Makienok failed to get his head on a good late chance and Pope made a wonderous save as Henderson again failed to make the bench.
The big news around The Valley today was that of Paul Elliott’s approach to the the Belgian owner of a consortium prepared to make an offer to Duchatalet to buy the club. The cracks continue to show as a price of £38m was put forward.
So, if we can get this straight. You buy a football club for £14m, add some new seats, some grass and paint the concrete, totally dismantle every positive aspect of one of the most respected community clubs in the country, sell it’s best players, buy a load of old donkeys, employ the most incompetent executive known to man and relegate the club, and the value goes up by 271%. What a business man RD is huh?
Finally to all of the Bolton and Addicks’ fans that wake up on Tuesday morning and decide to go the game that night. I do know a number of someone that could help you.
