Charlton Athletic 2 Birmingham City 1

I blame the fans. {…}

Some of you (and you know who you are) did not go to The Valley this afternoon to the support the team. Oh no. You went to create disorder on the pitch and cheer, sorry, interfere with the players. How bloody dare you {…}

A great result, deserved. Probably too late and it will only mean anything if we take it onto Tuesday but a last minute winner never gets old. Nor does beating Birmingham. The game finished way after every other, mind you it always does, but this time it was due to a 5 minute delay just after the start of the game when the players were each offered stress balls. Little black & white ones.

Another ingenious CARD effort. Well done guys. Good stuff. Point made.

The team picked by Riga has long confused me but it was good to see Vetokele start, and I think we were all surprised to see Lookman get 45 minutes. Sounds as if he played well and in that 2nd half we were by far the better side.

I would think we could do with the pace of Vetokele and Lookman at Ipswich on Tuesday. I would even add Harriott like Riga did in the 2nd half. Riga needs to brave now. It was also noticeable that Henderson was on the bench, but Bauer wasn’t. Somehow we have to find some consistency. The desire was there.  Come on Charlton, at least make a fight of it.

Relegation watch: Fulham conquered MK Dons, which means we are still really 7 pts behind them. Bristol City lost 4-0 at Hull but Rotherham won again beating Leeds. Rotherham are now 7, 8 really, ahead of us. Bolton keep battling but lost in the last minute to Reading and are 15, call it 16, points adrift of safety.

    Hey CA – we won – be happy !

    Ingenious protest ??
    Well at least they are getting smaller each time.

    First beach balls …..then small stress balls ….
    What will those ingenious cards think of next time to throw on the pitch ….tiny mothballs ?

    • Jh -I am happy with the win but being a realist I have the league table out here in front of me. You not a supporter of the protests then?

    Loved the protest (waiting for a knock on the door…) and went mental with that Tex goal. Jordan my MOM but Diarra was up there with last ditch tackling and the way he moves the ball about. With Callum, Igor and Lookman running at them in the last 20 minutes it was our most exciting passage of play for yonks. I was delighted Riga went for it by bringing on Mak for Motta, and playing our three fast boys. Why didn’t he do similar against MK?

    I’ve thought we were down since last November, but after days like yesterday you can’t help feeling that little bit of hope.

    HI CA – very proud to have been there handing out free programmes and stress balls on Saturday with a lot of positive feedback from most fans – including a lot of Birmingham fans. And I loved their loud chorus of ‘sack the board’ during the protest.
    So Jh I do wish some of you would start speaking up if you don’t agree instead of snide little comments. I know you are in a minority but I would defend anyone’s right to air their own opinion. You really need to get yourselves organised and speak up. Please, please let me know how you see the situation at the club and how you can possibly think there isn’t a problem. Perhaps you do and you have some constructive ideas about what can be done about it. But equally you may be happy with what has happened over the last 2 years – and good on you if you are.
