Stand up for the 2%

I will be wholeheartedly supporting this clever but simple initiative on Saturday as will my family and friends. This a protest against the administration and not the team or Interim Head Coach.
The Stand up for the 2% protest is a direct response to Katrien Meire’s continued uninformed and disingenuous attitude towards Charlton supporters and the continued lack of communication from Roland Duchatelet on what his bizarre experiment means to the very future of the club that we love.
The protest does not affect the support of the players, the enjoyment of the match nor is it a personal attack based on gender or nationality. Stand up for the 2% needs to form part of a long term strategic and intelligent protest until it brings change and I am looking forward to being part of it on Saturday.
Joe from the Spell it Out campaign and Rick Everitt need every help they can get, whether it is financial or more importantly, volunteers who can give up a bit of time on Saturday to help give out posters (10,000 have been printed), balloons or sell scarfs.

YET AGAIN AT A TV MATCH WE LOOK TO ACT LIKE SPITEFUL CHILDREN – JUST BECAUSE THINGS AINT GONE THE WAY WE FEEL THEY SHOULD HAVE.
GROW UP – GIVE RD A CHANCE TO PUT IT RIGHT.
MOST OF YOU WHO ARE STILL HELL BENT ON DOING IT SHOULD THINK AGAIN AND COME OUT OF PUBITY. SOME OF YOU AE SOUNDING AND ARE ACTING LIKE ADOLENCSENT TENAGERS
RD has had plenty of chance to put it right but he’s actually doing the opposite. He’s destroying this club and the supporters (including me after 46 years) are leaving in droves. Good luck to those demonstrating and I hope it has some effect. Things have to change.
There will of course be many shades of opinion about the protest campaign but my first thought on this is actually how ill thought out and immature it was of the CEO to provide a rallying point for those who feel that she is not up to the job by giving them the ”2% ‘identity., It was an absolute gift.in much the same way as Morrison was gifted to a direct opponent. The overwhelming weight of comments refer to this 2% rather than the statistically superior(so called) 98%. Whatever the rights and wrongs of the 2% campaign the organisers are in my view winning the propaganda ‘war. thanks to yet another ill-advised ‘statement by Ms Meire.. ‘ . .
Just like the adolescent teenagers who won votes in the local election?
The votes were to get us back to the valley not because we had a crap football team.
I had a season ticket at Selhurst and Upton Park , of course I am not happy with our league position but can`t help agreeing with the first comment.
Normally enjoy reading your well written offerings Mr CA, but there are a lot more worthy bandwagons to jump on in my opinion than this. It’s all too easy for fans to complain and take offence by perceived slights, but in truth the present owners have invested money and we do now have some exciting and talented players in the team.
Am looking forward to another good performance on Saturday and a positive atmosphere in the ground and just hope the “2%” won’t distract the players.

I’m with you and the 2% in spirit CA. I’ll miss the match as I won’t be watching at 5 am on the morning of my friend’s 50th birthday bash in Las Vegas.

Personally I hope there is a sizeable protest, (while also supporting the team.)
We are a broad church at CAFC with different reasons for complaining.
I agree that RD has spent money in and around the club.
My problems are:
1. I only want to support Charlton and not a network.
2. I want to believe a head coach/manager is given the job on merit and not just because he happens to be mates with the owner.
(Odd that the recent head coach appointments were made in a blink of an eye, yet head of communication, arguably less important than the boss of the playing staff needs until February to get the right person.)
3. I’m fed up with being considered an irritation as I’m an ‘older fan’.
4. Sofas, pie cams & cheerleaders.
5. I want to ‘believe’.
Nobody dreams of their club finding gems in the youth set up so they can be sold on for other clubs to realise their potential. This appears to be our business model. We need to keep our best players and build teams around them.
6. We’ve never had a richer owner, yet we’ve never heard more about being ‘over budget’.
Do it properly and become a hero.
This way RD is spending millions with very little credit.
7. I believe KM is completely out of her depth.
8. With the collapse of the financial fair play idea, RD’s experiment seems to be unlikely to succeed. What are his plans now?
9. The way CP was treated.
10. The Michael Morrison affair.

Comment in response to Peter Hearn in particular, and those who agreed with him. CAST carried out a survey post the fans meeting and 93% of members agreed with the protests. They can’t all be adolescent teenagers (I’m certainly not!!) and it would certainly suggest Peter is in the minority with his opinion (as valid as his opinion undoubtably is).
It gladdens my heart and I will definitely be supporting this action. I know not everyone agrees and that’s fine – but I do find it hard to understand how anyone can want what is happening to the club and what we are seeing on and off the pitch each season. I have never been so out of love with the game as I am at the moment, and whilst that is not all down to one man I would be able to ignore what is happening in the premiership and the way the game is run if only I could once again enjoy supporting my own team. A bit head in the sand I know, but I used to love my Saturdays.
