A new signing
Charlton have announced the signing of striker Ricardo Vaz Tê. The 29-year old was a free agent but has a good goalscoring record in England playing for some time at Bolton, Barnsley and West Ham.
Signed by Big Sam, for who Vaz Tê played also for at Bolton where he began his career in England, he played 3 years at Upton Park in both The Championship and the Premier League.
Vaz Tê hits all the right buttons with good Championship experience and a knack for getting a goal, which is badly needed especially with it now confirmed that Igor will be out at least until the end of January.
Vaz Tê hasn’t played much football, in fact his last game was a year ago, but that is the nature of picking up a non-contract player well into the season. A contract until the May allows both the club and the player to impress each other and make a longer term decision then.
A much needed recruit, probably supported by Conor McAleny’s wages. Hopefully our famed scouting network can find a couple of other nuggets with some experience of the division, if the budget allows.
