Behind the back of the sofa
We’ve found a few quid because today Tareiq Holmes-Dennis and Morgan Fox were given extended contracts.
19-year old Farnborough born Tareiq Holmes-Dennis has signed a two-year contract extension, which commits him to the club until June 2018. Left back Holmes-Dennis is meant to be a big talent and has already played 37 games whilst on loan to Oxford and Plymouth and made his Charlton debut off the bench against Dagenham & Redbridge in August.
And the club have stolen a march on Manchester United by extending Morgan Fox’s contract a further year to June 2018. Fox reportedly was being monitored by United with other clubs interested. Ipswich were sniffing around the Welsh 22-year old last season. Fox has excelled under Luzon for whom he has played most of his 43 league games.
These deals tie Holmes-Dennis and Fox to the club for longer, give the club a little more security in terms of their asset value and also give both players a pay rise. Word is that Nick Pope is next on the club’s agenda to sign a new and improved deal. Pope has been the only recent shining light in a run of 6 games without a win.
Igor Vetokele has said that he won’t be making any loan moves until he gets fit. Nice touch. Vetokele has scored 3 league goals in 30 games since he started his Charlton career on fire at the beginning of last season.
Why the club would consider moving on Igor makes no sense, particularly if we wait until he gets fit before sending him out on loan.
