Cardiff City 2 Charlton Athletic 1

Another defeat, and Guy Luzon’s very questionable approach to resting our best players for Wednesday’s game against Crystal Palace producing an embarrassing response. Lacking commitment, concentration and attitude, and that was just the head coaches view of things.

The bench had more teenagers on it than an after school park bench underscoring again the owner’s inability or lack of desire to allow Luzon to prepare better for a cut and thrust season in this division.

From what I understand, and my sympathy and admiration goes to those Addicks who made it to South Wales today, the performance lacked any of the competences that we have got to know Luzon for. The first 15 and last 15 minutes had no redeeming features whatsoever and the bit in the middle wasn’t much better.

The players by all accounts did not get their clapping of those Charlton fans back in kind, and this is becoming a remarkable downturn of fortunes for Guy Luzon, who will know full well what Roland does when the heat is turned onto him by supporters.

Two positives were the return of Franck Moussa and a goal from KAG, who gave us a lead that lasted 4 minutes. That all important first goal that Luzon has pined for. I wonder if Duchatelet’s takeaway from today’s result is the performance or the fact that KAG becomes a more saleable asset?

Luzon has to be allowed to manage and coach his way out of this, but the deja vu is closing in.

But don’t panic everybody we have rejuvenated Fulham next. On the television. What could possibly go wrong?

Elsewhere in The Championship: Brighton stay top despite throwing away a 2-0 lead at Bolton. Reading are 3rd after winning at Burnley, Wednesday won at Brentford, Darren Bent scored as Derby won late at MK Dons and Rotherham had the win of the day away at Birmingham.
