Conor McAleny joins on loan
Charlton have completed the signing of highly-rated Everton forward Conor McAleny on an initial two month loan. (more)
At 23-years old, he’s a name that has certainly flown under the radar, at least to the uninitiated. McAleny has been at Everton since he was 11-years old, but has only played two games for the Toffees and in past season’s McAleny has been on loan at Scunthorpe, Brentford and Cardiff, where he scored twice in eight appearances towards the end of last season.
I question where he has been until the age of 23, but he has suffered a lot of injuries and Roberto Martinez offered the Merseyside-born striker a new contract last summer and he was heavily involved in Martinez’s pre-season which culminated with a place on the bench for Everton’s opener at home to Watford.
Martinez said this in the summer: “We hope he can stay fit, because he has got really good low balance, he can turn, and technically he is very strong. He has quality finishing on him. So let’s hope he can push on and make sure he stays injury-free for the rest of pre-season.” Article here.
McAleny can also play wide and will wear the number 28 shirt and is eligible for selection for tomorrow’s clash with Huddersfield Town at The Valley. Welcome to SE7 Conor.
