In’s and Out’s
As requested a handy cut out and keep list of the Addicks’ coming’s and going’s this season, remembering there is still 3 weeks of the transfer window to go.
Firstly those that joined:
Patrick Bauer – 22, German, central defender signed from Maritomo. He played 43 first team games for the Portuguese Primeira Liga side that play on the island of Madeira. 6ft 4in Bauer signed for Maritomo from childhood club Vfb Stuggart. Bauer penned a 4-year contract at The Valley. Link
Cristian Ceballos – 22, Spanish, attacking midfielder than can play on the left and behind the strikers. Signed on a free transfer from Tottenham and handed a 3-year deal. Ceballos came through Barcelona’s famed La Maisa youth system but never played for Spurs, but did sit on the bench a number of times last season. His only spell of regular first team football was in Portugal with FC Arouca in the Primeira Liga in 2013/14. Link
Zakarya Bergdich – 26, Moroccan, left back who can also play left midfield was signed from Real Valladolid on a 4-year contract. Born in France he has 11 caps for the country of his parents, Morocco. Bergdich began his career at Lens, before being sold to Real Valladolid in 2013 but was on loan to Serie A side Genoa for the final three months of last season playing regularly. Link
Simon Makienok – 24, at 6ft 7in will be the tallest player to ever play for Charlton. The Danish striker signed on a season-long loan with a view to a permanent from Italian club Palermo. Makienok scored about a goal every other game during three seasons for Brøndby in his home country which prompted a big chase for him across Europe a year ago. However at Palermo the giant striker struggled for game time. Link
El-Hadji Ba – 22, French central midfielder signed from Sunderland. The deep lying midfielder only played 90 minutes over three games for the Black Cats but he did score a goal. He was signed as a free-agent in 2013 after playing for Le Havre. Last season he was on a season-long loan back in Ligue 1 with Bastia but only played 7 games before getting injured in October. Ba signed a 3-year deal. Link
Naby Sarr – 21, French central defender signed from Sporting Lisbon. Born in Marseille, Sarr came through the PSG youth system but moved at 15 to join the famed Lyon academy. After 5 impressive appearances for Lyon, Sporting Lisbon swooped to sign Sarr for €1m, with another €1m to be paid further down the line depending on appearances. The young defender has a number of France U20 caps and was an ever present in France’s run to winning the FIFA U20 World Cup in 2013. He signed a 5-year contract. Link
Ahmed Kashi – 26, French born holding midfielder signed from Metz (managed by Jose Riga). Kashi signed a 3-year contract. Although born in north-eastern France, Kashi chose to play for Algeria, the birthplace of his parents, and did represent the North African country at the recent African Cup of Nations. Kashi played 21 times last season scoring once. Link
Joshua Staunton – 19, Kent born defender was released by Gillingham at the end of last season, but impressed in trials with the Addicks. Staunton will form part of Jason Euell’s U21 squad.
And now the long list of players that were either sold, released, or returned to their parent clubs.
Joe Gomez – The Catford born 18-year old was sold to Liverpool for what was thought an initial £3.5m. Joe is one of the best players to come out of the Charlton academy for many years and unfortunately we only saw him play 24 times.
Simon Church – Released in the summer after making 73 appearances, scoring 13 goals. The Welsh international signed for MK Dons on a 2-year deal. Chruchy made his debut from the bench on Saturday.
Tal Ben Haim – The experienced Israeli international decided to leave the club after last season and signed a 2-year deal with his first ever club Maccabi Tel Aviv, who are managed by Slavisa Jokanovic who led Watford to the Premier League promotion. Maccabi are current Israeli champs and Ben Haim has been playing their Champions League qualification campaign.
Chris Eagles – Signed on a short term deal but was released after playing 15 games, scoring twice. Currently without a club.
Roger Johnson – Left Charlton after his short term deal expired. Johnson played 13 times for Charlton and is training with the Colorado Rapids hoping to be signed before the MLS transfer deadline.
Lawrie Wilson – The popular utility man was released in the summer after making 108 appearances for the club scoring 6 goals. Wilson signed a 2-year contract with Bolton Wanderers after a successful trial and played the entire game at right back against Derby on Saturday.
Oguchi Onyewu – Let go by Charlton in May after playing 3 times. He immediately went back to the United States and was on trial with New York City FC but suffered an achilles injury and is now recovering from that.
Neil Etheridge – One of a collection of goalies used last season. Etheridge played 6 games for Charlton and signed for Walsall on a 2-year deal. He made his debut for Walsall on Saturday.
Yoni Buyens – The penalty king was on a season-long loan from Standard Liege, who he vowed to not play for again. He signed for KRC Genk for an undisclosed fee and has played in all of their 3 league games. Buyens played 43 games for Charlton scoring 9 goals.
Frederic Bulot – Was on a season-long loan from Standard Liege and after a long drawn out permanent move to The Valley fell through, the Gabon International signed for French Lique 1 side Stade de Reims. Bulot played 28 games for Charlton scoring 5 goals.
Christophe Lepoint – Er, what was the point? Signed in January from K.A.A. Gent for an undisclosed fee, Lepoint started just one game and was sold to S.V. Zulte Waregem in June.
Jack Munns – Released after coming through the academy but never made a first team appearance. Jack signed for Cheltenham, now playing in the Conference, and scored on his debut Saturday.
Harry Osborne – Released after coming through the academy. Harry signed a 1-year deal with Welling United.
Harry Gerard – Released after coming through the academy. No club currently.
Kadell Daniel – Released after signing from Crystal Palace in 2013. No club currently.
Kurtis Cumberbatch – Released a year after signing from Watford. No club currently.
Kieran Monlouis – Released after a short-term contract. No club currently.
Rhys Browne – Released after signing from Norwich in 2013. He signed for Aldershot and scored and was awarded man of the match on his debut Saturday.
Levander Pyke – Released after coming through the academy. No club currently.
