Cristian Ceballos signs

Possibly the creative attacking midfielder Charlton have lacked since Dale Stephens or even Jonjo Shelvey is the latest signing to be announced by the club today.

Cristian Ceballos has never made a first team appearance at Tottenham and was released in the summer, but Spurs fans talk highly of the young attacking midfielder they signed from Barcelona’s famed La Masia youth system. Tim Sherwood, who coached Ceballos at White Hart Lane, has also been complimentary of the Spaniard in the media.

Ceballos certainly fits Roland Duchatelet’s strategy of signing cheaply young players with potential, and it will be interesting to see how he fares in the cut and thrust of The Championship. The 22-year old has only had one spell of regular first team football, and that was in Portugal with FC Arouca in the Primeira Liga in 2013/14.

He did sit on the bench last season in a number of games for Spurs, and let’s face it Spurs do have an awful lot of midfield quality at their disposal. Anyway we have had some decent players from Spurs over the years. Martin Robinson, Mike Flanagan and Johnnie Jackson to name just three.

There does appear to be a bit of a line forming of potential signings at The Valley this week and I am sure behind the scenes furious negotiations are continuing to further add to Guy Luzon’s squad.
