Or at least a foam one
After a month of nothing in terms of Charlton transfer gossip, today Belgium football Journalist Sven Claes put out probably the most concrete rumour so far this summer.
Claes is very well connected in Belgium and has a good knowledge of the Addicks set up, as well as a decent track record in prediciting the mostly unpredictable in Charlton’s timeline. Today Claes reported that we are in the race to sign Lokeren winger Nill De Pauw. According to Claes the 25-year old has a €750,000 buy out clause.
De Pauw (photo) was born in the Congo, but has played for Belgium at every international level to U21. He came through the Lokeren youth team and may feel the time is right to make his first move.
There always has to be a connection of course, and, well Lokeren have just appointed Bob Peeters as their new head coach. It is anticipated that there could be quite a lot of comings and goings at Lokeren after previous head coach Peter Maes left after 5 years at the club. Peeters first signing incidentially is expected to be Yoni Buyens.
This will further fuel Johann Berg Gudmundsson to leave rumours, with Wolves the latest name mentioned in dispatches as suitors.
Meanwhile the Addicks have added a game against Genk to their Belgium tour as well as a mini Essex excursion to the Daggers and Southend United. No home game yet.
