Walk in the park

Bermuda strolled to a 5-0 1st leg victory in the Bahamas last night, making the 2nd leg on Sunday here on the rock almost redundant.

1,500 were present at the impressive Bahamas national stadium in Nassau, gifted to the people by the Chinese. China is big in Nassau, as they are also behind the $3.5bn brand new Baha Mar resort.

Bermuda are ranked higher than the Bahamas in the FIFA rankings, yet no one could have predicted such a one-sided affair. An early goal headed in from a corner by Dante Leverock sent the Bermudians on their way and they were 3-0 at the half after a penalty from Nahki Wells, stepping up after missing two for Huddersfield last weekend and Zeiko Lewis fired a third after the Bahamians went down to 10-men.

The impressive Justin Donawa, who is at university in Massachusetts, scored two fine goals after the break to end it 5-0.

Barring an epic upset on Sunday afternoon, Bermuda will travel to Guatemala in June in the CONCACAF 2nd Qualifying Round.
