Charlton Athletic 2 Nottingham Forest 1

A very impressive result tonight against a team that had won five of their last six and with a very makeshift team, and all of our first choice defenders out.

Wilson, Gomez, Diarra and Fox began at the back, but Luzon sensibly changed it at half-time replacing Wilson who was struggling against Antonio’s pace and trickery. Gomez coped much better at right back and also got forward much more and Bikey, dropped and suddenly in the past fortnight third choice centre-half, also did a good job of steadying the ship.

Frederic Bulot has come back from the African Nations a different player. He scored a Gudmundsson-esque free-kick in the 7th minute after we started well, and then completely against the run of play, the man on loan from Standard Liege fired in from close range to put us ahead again after danger man Antonio had equalized.

I listened in on CAFC Player, and after the great attacking display of Saturday, this was a performance that needed resolve and endeavour.

The Player commentary fell off with technical issues with about 15 to go so I was left to sit at my desk refreshing Twitter every millisecond, but it appears that we saw the game out comfortably for another excellent win.

I hope that injuries to Solly, Johnson and Gudmundsson will quickly repair. Harriott also went off injured

Credit to Guy Luzon for bringing simplicity, organisation and much pride back to SE7.

Your last line hits it on the head. 12 pts in 5 games is well more than we could have imagined a month ago:)

Not my head it doesn’t. But there we are – us fans are never going to agree are we – that’s what football is all about. The only explanation for Bulot’s astonishing change in form is that he sent his twin brother back from Africa. Long may he stay (but he won’t, will he?) I’m just enjoying it game by game now – its the only way to think about it. And for God’s sake don’t get too attached to Tony Watt.

Hey CA , how about a bit of slack to Katerien . Good job she told a few little porkies to make sure Luzon got the job and how about some praise to RD for holding on to Guy after he was hounded out of SL.

CA, you are aware that the opposition’s radio coverage is readily available on CAFC Player at a quick click on the “dot” at the top? I had already gone over to it as Finchy and Terry had finished me off with their talking over each other, interrupting one another, Finchy too close to the mic and all the other “just two guys in the stands watching a match” quality of broadcast. They are dreadful.

  5. Bob – I quite like them, although I prefer when Louis Mendez is there, as he has a much better radio voice and actually describes the game eloquently, which, the bias aside, you really want.

I did actually forget about the ‘away’ commentary, but that feedback last night was doing my head in, so I just turned them off.
