Túlio de Melo

Nothing is sacred anymore is it?

As originally sourced by Doctor Kish, Charlton made a suggestion that a trialist, a striker, would play in today’s U21 game against Cardiff City at The Valley. It is said that the club was keen to keep his identity under wraps and that as the game was being shown live on You Tube, the commentators may even refer to him as A. Trialist, Blackpool style.

Since yesterday Charlton Life goes into overdrive and every closet Inspector Morse gets to work and sure enough the club then pull, er, A, Trialist out of the Cardiff U21 game, but not before the internet search police have narrowed it down to a Brazilian striker called Túlio de Melo.

Fast forward to this afternoon and it is disclosed that Charlton’s not so secret on trial striker is in fact Túlio de Melo.

Not much is known about the Brazilian 29-year old beyond computer games, but he is 6′ 4″ and quite a lump and he is a free agent after being released by French club Evian after just 5 games this season.

Túlio de Melo has been in Europe for 10 years mostly playing in France and has played for Le Mans and Lille, who signed him for €4 million in 2008.

Not very prolific, roughly one in four, but maybe the big presence that we need up front? The last French bloke wasn’t bad was he!

Classy player but suffers from a chronic knee injury which hampered his career at Lille and probably explains why he has been released by Evian

  2. Heres the youtube link of some of his goals, if true, I am not surprised he has a chronic knee injury, with celebrations like he does after scoring.

But this French bloke is Brazilian, and an injury prone one at that.

    • Ah, that is true, although the injury prone bit is similar!
