Norwich City 0 Charlton Athletic 1
A monster result tonight against the league leaders’ expensively assembled squad and the division’s top scorers.
It may have been a smash and grab victory, but they don’t come without defensive mettle, strength of character, organisation and a game plan. Oh, and winner, and Johnnie Jackson is a born winner. Those less appreciative of what Jacko gives to the fabric of our club can go back into their cubby-holes for a little bit longer.
Big Bob should be very proud of his work tonight. He went unperturbed with Gomez again, changed his preferred formation to 4-5-1 and put two 17-year olds on the bench. Then when the heat was turned up to the max, he threw on Karlan Ahearne-Grant for his debut and the ever reposeful Morgan Fox.
It was the most noticeable result of Bob’s time at Charlton, and with October here tomorrow we should be allowed to wallow, just for a moment, at what we have witnessed so far. Talking of which, those that saw for themselves the famous Jacko knee-slide at Carrow Road, can wallow a little longer.
Around the League: Forest left Wigan with a point, Watford are level with Norwich on points after beating Brentford 2-1 and Blackpool grabbed a very excellent point at Middlesbrough. Wednesday and Ipswich drew 1-1 whilst Derby scored two late goals to defeat 10-man Bournemouth.
