Reza future to be decided tomorrow
After the friendly tonight against Ebbsfleet, members of the media asked Bob Peeters to the whereabouts to Reza Ghoochannejhad. Bob said this:
“There was a transfer to the Middle East. Now there is no transfer anymore and he comes back tomorrow.
I will have a chat with him because he deserved a rest after the World Cup but I will talk to him about what his plans are because for me it is important if players come back they want to be at Charlton.
If you don’t want to be at Charlton then you don’t need to train with the first team. He needs to tell me whether he stays or not.” (more)
Not many people are surprised that Reza thinks his future lies elsewhere and last season under two different managers he came across from what I could see as very much an outsider. An impressive World Cup would have given him some good publicity, and he knows it, as does Duchâtelet, who will be attempting to cash the Iranian in.
Bob whilst suggesting he had no idea what was going on in the background, has shown a firm hand with a good dose of honesty.
This Middle Eastern move sounds looks like it’s fallen through for personal reasons. If Duchâtelet can sell him, then hopefully that money is recycled into the club and not the network.
Good leadership from Peeters, and I look forward to more.
Meanwhile to underscore why friendlies are no more than a run about and a chance to see mates for a beer, the Addicks lost 1-0 to Ebbsfleet tonight in a very dull game. More disappointing for those that went was that it was touted as a 1st team friendly but only Solly, Nego, Gomez, Cousins, Church and Țucudean were in the 1st team squad.
