Brighton & Hove Albion 3 Charlton Athletic 0

“Apologies to everyone for my performance today. Not good enough.”

That was Diego Poyet on Twitter post match and by the sounds of it he wasn’t alone. We were again given a shooing by one of the better teams in the division, slipping to another 3-0 defeat, disappointing in front of a almost 2,000 Addicks, although hardly unexpected. As Riga pretty much said after, there are many teams on a different level to us in this division.

Poyet and the others (especially Diego) will be forgiven as we have ‘bigger’ fish to fry, and we to hope that the players have once again left enough in the tank for our next Tuesday night game.

The best news today was the return of Chris Solly, who came on as sub in the 65th minute. I wonder if it is too early for him to start on Tuesday, but with Cort fit as well, these will be the best two signings the Addicks have made since January.

I had every plan to go to the Amex today, but decided against it, instead I fly back to Gatwick tonight and will take my place at The Valley on Tuesday.

Chicago, you did yourself a mighty favour by giving the Amex a miss. It was an awful performance. We gifted Brighton the first goal early on – and then we all should’ve made for the exits. My frustration and anger at the ineptitude of some of the “usual suspects” was barely contained. Astrit a passenger on the left; Reza a “bottler” and lightweight; Sordell all no ball control and erratic motion. Then the subs: Harriott, any confidence drained games ago, and Church, better suited to the London Marathon. What a bunch of no-hopers.
Only bright notes: Solly back. Jackson and Cousins having a decent game.
Tuesday night, Jose needs to use his blindfold and pin once again when picking the forwards.
Maybe rookie Piggot and unfit Obika will be the lucky ones – can’t be any worse!
Sickening note: Some of the fans chanting “Jose Riga’s red and white army”. Now do me a favour!

  2. “Church, better suited to the London Marathon.” – that made me smile.

From what I have subsequently read Roberto, it did sound a shocker yesterday. Just like some of our followers did as well according to some accounts.
